Omar Khan steps down after five years of transformational leadership, transitioning to Trustee and Immediate Past Chair before becoming BFAC’s inaugural Honorary Vice President.
Bat For a Chance, the global cricket-for-social-change charity, today announces the retirement of Omar Khan as Chair of the Board of Trustees, following five years of transformational leadership that has seen the charity grow from a grassroots start-up into a globally recognised organisation delivering impact across 30 countries.
Omar joined Bat For a Chance in its earliest days and has been instrumental in guiding the charity’s transition from a founder-led initiative into a multiple six-figure organisation. Under his chairmanship, BFAC has reached more than 23,000 people across four continents, launched a series of high impact Cricket for Social Change programs, and helped establish sustainable projects and activations with the Barbados Royals, DP World, Virgin Atlantic, Foundation of Goodness, and the Catch Trust.
Following his retirement as Chair, Omar will continue to serve the charity as Trustee through to 2027, before assuming the role of Bat For a Chance’s inaugural Honorary Vice President — a title created in recognition of his exceptional contribution and the continued part he will play in the charity’s future.
With nearly 30 years at the intersection of sport, strategy, and innovation, Omar has dedicated a major part of his career to honouring cricket’s proud traditions while helping shape its future. He has been behind some of the game’s most memorable sustainable campaigns — notably with Cockspur Rum, Kingfisher Beer, Bet365, and with Lycamobile as their first ever Head of Global Sponsorship and Events. Omar was appointed CEO of Trinidad Red Steel, now owned by Kolkata Knight Riders, in the first year of the Caribbean Premier League, and ran the commercial programme for the Barbados Tridents in 2018, now owned by the Rajasthan Royals.
Whether nurturing grassroots pathways or delivering global strategies for stakeholders within the game, he brings a unique blend of insight, leadership, and commercial acumen to every opportunity — and has used that experience to help secure ambassadorial agreements with Chris Jordan, Simon Jones, Roland Butcher, Maia Bouchier, Jofra Archer, and Ravi Shastri — Bat For a Chance’s first Patron. Through his relationships with major stakeholders and teams across the domestic and global game, Omar has helped advance Bat For a Chance’s continuing development as a major force in cricket.
Speaking of his time at Bat For a Chance, Omar said: “Bat For a Chance holds a very special place in my heart. When I first got involved, I saw something rare — a genuinely powerful idea, driven by a founder with real conviction. Five years on, the growth speaks for itself, but what I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built and the lives we’ve changed along the way. This has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career, and I’m excited for everything that lies ahead for this incredible charity. I look forward to continuing to play my part in its story.”
Bat For a Chance are hugely grateful for all that Omar has given to the charity and can’t wait to continue the next chapter with his involvement.
